One of the Few Manufacturers Worldwide Offering Forging-and-Rolling Shells
We produce pressure-vessel shells using the forged-and-rolled process (free forging + radial-axial rolling), a technology mastered by only a few manufacturers worldwide. Compared with free forging, this process offers clear advantages:
1. Better performance
Radial-axial rolling is a continuous forming process. Strong rolling forces align the metal flow with the shell’s circumference, improving pressure-bearing performance.
2. Larger sizes
Free forging is limited by the press’s column spacing. Radial-axial rolling removes this constraint and allows much larger shell diameters.
3. More cost-efficient
The forging-and-rolling process needs fewer heating cycles and provides higher forming accuracy, enabling faster production with less machining and lower energy use.
In-House Steel Mill, One-Stop Solution
We operate our own short-process steel plant and use LF / VD / VOD systems to refine material composition. For critical applications, we can also produce high-purity steel through ESR (Electroslag Remelting). Compared with suppliers without melting capability, our advantages include:
1.Easier material customization: We work with you to fine-tune alloy composition and steel cleanliness for your specific needs. You no longer need to source a separate steel mill or coordinate raw-material schedules.
2.More accurate quality traceability: With a full data chain from melting to forging, heat treatment, and machining, any issue can be traced precisely to the specific heat. This is especially important for first-of-its-kind products and long-cycle, multi-batch projects.
Need Higher Homogeneity for Mega Forgings?
Nuclear power, offshore engineering and other special projects require very high homogeneity in ultra-large forgings; however, some alloys become difficult to homogenize once the ingot size increases.
The reason is simple: during cooling, the outer layer solidifies first while the center cools slowly, pushing alloy elements inward and causing segregation that harms performance.
We work with Academicians Li Yiyi and Li Dianzhong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, using metal structuring and micro-alloying technologies to produce highly homogeneous large billets, already applied to 316H, SA508-3, 28Mn6, and TC4.
