Iraeta Advances China–Spain Industrial Partnerships Through Basque Country Visit
From October 8 to 9, 2026, Iraeta Chairman Niu Yugang and his delegation visited Spain’s Basque Country to meet with local government representatives, business associations and companies. Discussions focused on advanced manufacturing, the energy transition and industrial cooperation, with a view to exploring new opportunities for businesses in China and Spain.
1. Exploring New Opportunities for Cooperation
On October 8, Niu Yugang met with Mikel Jauregi, the Basque Government’s Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, and Zigor Urkiaga, Strategic Projects Adviser. They exchanged views on advanced manufacturing, green and low-carbon development, and regional industrial policies.
Minister Jauregi highlighted the potential for greater business cooperation between China and Spain. He expressed his hope that more Basque companies would enter the Chinese market and that more Chinese companies would invest and establish operations in the Basque Country.
Niu Yugang thanked the Basque Government for its warm reception and said that Iraeta would continue to foster connections between Chinese and Spanish businesses and help identify new opportunities for cooperation.

2. Strengthening Business and Industry Connections
During a meeting with ADEGI, the Gipuzkoa Business Association, its President, Josemi Ayerza, reflected on the association’s visit to Jinan in March 2026. He noted that the visit had given its members a closer look at the capabilities of Chinese industry and the ongoing transformation of Jinan’s industrial sector.
Niu Yugang noted that the Basque Country combines a strong industrial heritage with a continued focus on innovation. Iraeta looks forward to strengthening its ties with local business associations and companies and exploring opportunities in technical exchange, industrial collaboration and market development.

3. Strengthening Local Operations in Spain
During the visit, the delegation toured FIHI Forging, a wind tower component manufacturer and an important part of Iraeta’s global operations.
Niu Yugang said that Iraeta would continue to upgrade equipment and improve production capabilities at its overseas operations. The company also remains committed to supporting local employment, contributing to community development and fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities.
